When you set up WP with a static front page and a blog page, the Featured Posts will not show up on the home page when you tick only that in the theme's settings. To fix this, make a change in SolidMag/includes/featuredposts/feauturedposts.php line 404 : replace is_home() with is_front_page() and you're done.
